๐ก How It Works:
Show the students the two images on the slide. For example, for "Hotdog," display a picture of a "hot" object and a "dog."
Ask the students to shout out any English words they know that might match the compound word.
If they donโt get it immediately, you can either:
- Give hints, or
- Reveal one word (usually, they figure it out quickly!).
Once you hear the correct answer, reveal the compound word!
๐ฎ Game Variations:
- Warm-up: Play this game for the first 5 minutes of class to get your older middle schoolers warmed up before starting a more textbook-heavy lesson.
- Time Filler: You can also use it at the end of class to fill any remaining time.
- Group Play: Have students compete in small groups to guess the compound words.
๐จ Design & Sources:
- The icons used for the images are from Flaticon.com, and I've included a folder with them below if youโd like to create an English Board activity with them.
๐ Notes:
- No prep requiredโjust open the PPT and go!
- Fun and interactive for all levels.
๐ Example Word:
- ๐ฅ+๐ = ๐ญ (Hotdog)

This is cleannnnnnn thank you!
Great job!
Is there a way for you to upload the individual pictures?
I'd like to print them out and put them on an English board!
I love this!
Hey @CrayonNickChan, If you have a teacher Canva account, here is a link where you can download the images! https://www.canva.com/design/DAGJSxHgFG8/luia_oOPZ1D0uJCEiEtfag/view?utm_content=DAGJSxHgFG8&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=publishsharelink&mode=preview
If you don`t have one, I have uploaded them above. ALTOPEDIA is weird about sharing image files to download so you might have to individually copy and paste each one into your English board poster.
(I highly suggest getting a Canva if you have not already~ Did you know premium is free if you send them a picture of your teacher contract?)
Nice work! Thank you for sharing. ^__^
FOOT + BALL = โฝ this football
That's what we should be teaching, international real football, but I digress.
Good activity nonetheless. :)
