This PPT was inspired by a user on a Korean ALT forum years ago. I've updated the powerpoint design and added more compound words!
For my older middle schoolers, I would play the PPT for the first 5 minutes of class to get them warmed up. We would get through about 5 slides (slide=level) before I started a lesson that might be boring (like a textbook based day). I have also played this as a time filler at the end of class~
Super fun, no prep, easy!
How-to:
Show the kids the two images on the slide. (For example: "Hotdog" would be pictures of "hot" and "dog").
Have the kids yell out words they know in English that might be that word.
If you don't hear it, you can give hints or just tell them one word. (They usually get it though)
Once you hear it, reveal the answer.
Notes:
Icons are from Flaticon.com~ I added them in a folder below for those who want to make an English Board activity out of it :)
This is cleannnnnnn thank you!
Great job!
Is there a way for you to upload the individual pictures?
I'd like to print them out and put them on an English board!
I love this!
Hey @CrayonNickChan, If you have a teacher Canva account, here is a link where you can download the images! https://www.canva.com/design/DAGJSxHgFG8/luia_oOPZ1D0uJCEiEtfag/view?utm_content=DAGJSxHgFG8&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=publishsharelink&mode=preview
If you don`t have one, I have uploaded them above. ALTOPEDIA is weird about sharing image files to download so you might have to individually copy and paste each one into your English board poster.
(I highly suggest getting a Canva if you have not already~ Did you know premium is free if you send them a picture of your teacher contract?)
Nice work! Thank you for sharing. ^__^
FOOT + BALL = ⚽ this football
That's what we should be teaching, international real football, but I digress.
Good activity nonetheless. :)
