You should be able to save a copy and change the questions suited to your location, age group, student ability, etc., but if the privacy settings don't allow that let me know and I'll see if I can fix it. The existing questions are aimed at SHS 1st grade.
You will need:
- Access to Google slides (internet, account, etc)
- The Slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/16B1RfHYios4T_5-d3rQ2hUWD9kIgxSnFlyPInqjP9ys/edit?usp=sharing
- An object to pass around
You've probably played Hot Potato, but just in case, here's how it works:
- As the music plays, students pass the object (the "hot potato") around the class. I suggest establishing a route before you start.
- You could have two objects, and have both students answer. Helps to keep them on their toes.
- When the music stops, the person holding the object has to answer a question from the ALT.
- When the music starts again, the passing continues.
- There are six rounds, but you can make that shorter or longer.
- The music ranges from about 10 to 30 seconds each time.
I've not actually tried this with any classes yet, but I imagine students could get quite excitable, so be warned.
I also like to troll my students somewhat, so the music varies in length and speed between each round, plus the final question is an easy one. You can of course change the questions and music to whatever you want. Google Slides doesn't have support for editing mp3 length or speed though, so you'll need to use a third party website to edit your audio, then upload those to your Drive and insert them into the presentation. The music I use is the Countdown timer from the UK gameshow of the same name.
This website allows you to cut, convert, and change the speed of mp3 files: https://mp3cut.net/change-speed
I hope someone finds this useful!
Cool lesson...if anyone could use the music...
