Questions cover vocab, grammar, questions, answers, translation, and phonics. All Japanese has been checked and corrected by a native Japanese speaker. All questions transition from easy ($200) to difficult ($1000).
Vocab
- Students must say (option to write on a whiteboard) the translation of all three words presented. If they get only some words correct it's the teacher's decision to offer partial points or none at all.
Grammar
- These questions are mostly finding and correcting errors and changing conjugations from present tense to the simple past.
Questions
- In this section students can see the answer in a conversation and must figure out what the question was.
- Ex. If the students see "My birthday is May 4th" the answer they must provide is "when is your birthday?"
Answers
- Students answer the prompting question in their own words/ with their personal answers. Pay close attention to grammar in this section!
Translation
- Students are prompted with a sentence in either English or Japanese and must accurately translate that sentence. Option to have them write down their answer.
- Ex. If the students are prompted with "月曜日は何をしますか?” they must translate that to "what do you do on Mondays?"
Phonics
- This may be specific to my students who have been studying CVC, CCVC, CVCC, and Magic E words for the last semester. Students read the sentence on the screen (comprehension is not important here) and if they pronounce it correctly they get the points.
- Ex. If the students read "shape" they must correctly pronounce /sh/ and recognize that the magic E makes the 'a' say it's own name.
I hope this makes your first days back a bit easier! Please let me know if you find any errors or have ideas for how it could be improved :)
