OVERVIEW
In groups students answer questions and choose different doors to receive random points!
The grammar used is mostly based off Unit 1 - Unit 6 of the NH1 (2021) textbook!
PREPARATION
All students will need a copy of the worksheet!
PROCEDURE
1. Give all the students a worksheet and explain the point system using the first few slides!
- Wrong answer = 0 points
- Right answer = G/R/B random points
- They all start with 20 points! (minus points are possible!)
2. I usually put them in 3-4 member groups and tell them they can work together! (I give each group a number)
3. In order, groups can take turns choosing the questions from slide 5.
- One group picks the question and then all groups have to write the answer on their worksheets.
- This way every group is always participating and no single group can just take the whole thing over by answering quickly etc.
4. Once everyone (or most of them) have written an answer you can click the pumpkin to reveal the correct answer!
5. You can click on the doors to reveal the points!
6. Click on the ghost in the top-right to return to the question slide!
7. Then you can just repeat steps 3-6 for however much time you have!
GAME CATEGORIES
1. MISTAKES: students need to write the correct sentence(s) without the mistakes
2: QUESTIONS: simple questions related to Halloween
3: SPELLING: students need to write the word that you say (words are in the notes of each slide)
4: RANDOM: can be anything: multiple choice, 3 hint quiz, written, word unscramble
5: PICTURES: questions somewhat related to images etc.
6: FALL: questions related to fall

NOTES
- Although it's a little less fast-paced to have everyone answer the question with no first-to-answer-wins rules, I really prefer this method because then all the kids have to think about the question and it gives every one a better chance
- It still gets pretty rowdy when the points are revealed after the answers haha, especially when minus points come up
- I usually tell them they don't need to choose the same G/R/B as their teammates if they don't want to!
- About half the questions are multiple-choice and half are written
- You can set your own time limits per question, for the written questions I usually do a little loop of the room to make sure everyone is on track/mostly finished and then give them a count-down from 5 before revealing the answer! For multiple-choice I give maybe 15-30 seconds or so.
- The difficulty of the questions is somewhat random (e.g. #1 isn't necessarily easier or harder than #19)
This is really good! Thank you for sharing this!
@rinayagi Thank you!
Very wonderful activity! I loved that it incorporated the units from the textbook too! Thank you!
@jjohnson_876 Thank you!
This was a great template!
My students liked the random point system and it moved a lot faster than some other games we've tried. Even though we didn't use the whole class period, we were able to review more than I expected. Thanks. :)
@melonfloat Thank you! I'm happy your students were able to enjoy it!
