I made three posters of about 15 jobs that are in Japan where English will be a massive advantage to have. As I am an ALT at a JHS, and students are starting to think of their future, I thought about jobs that they might want where English ability will give them a huge advantage.
I also have a QR code that links to the Japanese article I found that speaks about these jobs (except the Doctor and Dentist one as I added those based off of the first thing I googled when looking for one!!).
All information I give to the students are in English, with me trying to make it simple and sticking to the grammar points learnt before or that will be taught. It is extremely difficult, so that is why there is a link to the actual article for students that actually care.
The only Japanese that will be on the poster are the translations of the job titles themselves.
If you have any suggestions, please share, as this poster will only be up on my English Board in December (I plan way ahead as I'm bored, and my students are writing tests - another reason why I thought about jobs).
Google Drive link as I think the file might be too big: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ce1EPL7jO__EGeplOd9TplGe4K5crXYg/view?usp=sharing
UPDATE: My JTE looked at the poster and we changed the kanji for one or two jobs (not that many). I also changed the font because my JTE mentioned that it looked more Chinese than Japanese.
Nice upload!
This is a great! It looks like a lot of information researched and compiled. Thanks a ton for sharing!
Looks great! Thank you for taking the time to make it, will definitely be using this. Maybe in the new year when we're getting closer to graduation.
This is really good. Thanks
Really like the idea of having different jobs!
great idea, Thanks!
It cannot be stressed enough how valuable this resource will be. Beyond words ! Thank You ! Thank You! Thank You!
Thank you for sharing.
I found that showing them Google has an effect on them as well. Google words like "science" or "baseball" in English and in Japanese. Show them the number of searches between the two to show how even the internet speaks English
