Activity

What's wrong? What's the matter? What should I do?

This is a JHS / HS activity for telling your feelings and giving advice.

Activity 1
First, have the students label the body parts worksheet. They can do it in pairs or in groups. Thanks to another contributor for this. (10 min)
Then show the answer sheet and give them time to write in the missing parts. Have them repeat after you.

Activity 2
To practice "My (body part) hurts", have them do the Janken game as described in the slides. They will play in pairs and use the body part worksheet to janken from start to finish. Each player can use an eraser as a marker on their sheet.(5 min)

Activity 3 - GO FISH
Practice "I have a _______".
Go through the slides and practice the expressions.
Demo the dialogue and how to play with the JTE and 2 volunteers.
You will need to make two copies of the illness cards for each group. Each student will have 4 cards to start.
Playing in groups of 4 makes for a longer game.
I gave each group a "You should..." paper for giving advice.

Activity 4
If there is time or if a group finishes "Go Fish" faster than others, they can complete the worksheet by 1. Completing the vocabulary list and 2. unscramble the words.
