Objective:
Students to practice asking and answering using the key sentence.
Set up:
Print the drawing cards and cut in half, enough for each student.
Prepare one drawing card for yourself to use in the demonstration.
Display the PPT on TV.
Method:
Part 1:
Start with the PPT character item quiz.
Put the students into teams. Because it's a quick quiz, I just leave them in their rows and number them.
Ask JTE to keep score on the board.
Do the practice question together, if a student knows the answer they should put their hand up.
Get the students to repeat the question after you.
Then, show the item.
Select the student who was first.
Get them to say the answer in the format: 'It's なになに's [object].'
If correct, their team gets one point!
Continue until the end of the quiz, winning team gets stickers.
Part 2:
Next, move to the drawing activity. Distribute the drawing cards.
Students shoud choose one Halloween character to draw - they have 5 minutes.
Emphasise that they MUST NOT write their name.
After 5 minutes, congratulate them on their drawing prowess, and collect their cards.
Part 3:
Demonstrate the dialogue.
Take your drawing card and ask a student: 'Is this yours?'
Hopefully, they will catch on and say: 'No.' --> click though the PPT to display the correct dialogue ('No, it's not.')
Elict 'No, it's not.' responses from a few more students.
Then, give your drawing to the JTE and get them to ask you the question: 'Is it yours?'
Respod with an enthusiastic: 'Yes, it's mine!'
Check students understanding, tell them to find their drawing!
Redistribute the drawing to the students.
MAKE SURE you give them to different students, so there is no chance they will get their own.
Start!
Students should ask 'Is it yours?' until they can find their drawing.
When they have their drawing, get them to sit down so it's easier for the remaining students.
They usually have a great laugh looking at each others funny pictures!
((For formatting, I use: 'Antique Olive Compact' or 'Segoe UI Black' for titles, and 'UD デジタル UK-R' for body text.))
I haven't tried this yet, but this feels like a fun activity especially for low-level students!
Thank you for making this!
thank you! even tho holloween will have passed when my class is ready for this next week, my JTE loves how cute this is.
