Escape Note
This is a standalone google slides game I made for my first years. We teach Unit 5 around Halloween, so I made this a scary game as well (though I don't think it's too scary haha).
Format:
- Students play alone
- Every student must use a laptop/chromebook
- Every student gets a worksheet
How to Play:
- Students open the slides presentation on their laptops and play the game for a set amount of time
- The objective of the game is to find the key to the door and escape the room they're stuck in
- Players point and click to explore the room
- There are notes and clues hidden throughout the room as well. Students write where the notes are and each word of the secret message contained in clues. My students got confused and thought they had to write what message was written in each note, so make sure they understand they are writing the LOCATION of each note.
Notes:
This is a large slides file, so loading it on each laptop will take a lot of time. To get around this, after you've copied the file to your own drive, publish it (file>share>publish to web). Copy the link and remove the &delayms= part of the url. Share this link with the class instead of the slides file itself (I suggest attaching a QR code like the one I have on the worksheet provided, just delete the one that's there and replace it)
Make sure students understand they must click to navigate the slides file, using the arrow keys or skipping slides in anyway will restart the game (unfortunately, this includes letting the mouse idle and then clicking, which will skip slides instead of clicking the slide link, so try to make sure students are aware of this too).
If you couldn't tell by the window scene, my school's located in Shizuoka, so this might confuse your kids in other locations. You can try to replace the image I have in those slides with one of your own city or town, but this will be a bit more work, sorry!
I'll expand on this at some point I super duper promise. There's some things that need to be fixed (I could make it clearer when you get an item for example)

This is amazing and absolutely insane, I had fun just playing by myself!
@ambercece Thank you, this is actually the first game I made like this and I like how it turned out. I made another one for second years called Communicate that I've posted also, it's pretty fun too :)
I jumped out of my skin.

Thank you!!
@Umakara evil smile
@herbivore - found them...
please make a part two 🙏
@herbivore I played it alone just now and had so much fun! For the longest time I was stuck on the "It's too dark" drawer slide and was like "why can't I use my flashlight?". The drawer lamp was staring at me like 👁👄👁.
I can't imagine how long it took you to put this together. Great work and looking forward to your expansion.
