Students initially practice counting minions with the ALT. I made this specifically for my special needs students, because it is sometimes challenging to keep them engaged. I utilized colorful backgrounds, and the minions themselves are quite interesting, so this activity can be used to tackle multiple topics, such as colors, numbers and shapes. I was also able to ask "what can you see?", "where is? ", "how many?", "I like" and so on. Its very flexible. So I then turned it into a fun game of hide and seek that focused on counting. The story line I created was, some minions have escaped and we are trying to find them to return them home. The minions are having fun and hiding in many places. The minions come in varying sizes and colors. Based on the level of the students, you can give students time to study the slides and try to count the minions. The "answer" slide reveals the minions one at a time, allowing for further practice. It can be played individually, in pairs or small groups. For smaller classes, it can just be done openly while all the students practice counting. For smaller classes I also ask volunteers to come up to the screen and point to all the minions that they have found.

Very Cute I have to teach a 1st grade ES and I was trying to think of things to go with them. We haven't done numbers yet! So adding this with my favorite number song I think will given them a challenge to also go past 10!
I really like the powerpoint - it's colorful and the animations are very well done. One thing I would suggest, however, is for the starting "levels" the numbers should not be so all-over-the-place. Keep them in strict order for a couple of levels, then start mixing them up as kids get their heads around the connection between number and output sound.
I would edit it myself to do this but my Powerpoint skills are around caveman level.
