How to Use This Activity
This is for group activities and I usually use this type of activity on a tablet so either both teachers can easily manage the points as well as answer checking or both teachers can do answer checking and the students can manage the game themselves.
On the example screen show the sample question or picture by tapping the A button and then tap the question to show the answer. Tap the answer to remove both. Tell the students once they get their answer checked they an pick a yarn ball to get points for their time. Don't pick the orange yarn yet. Show them an example and tell them the points will be written on the board. Then click the B button and do another sample question. This time pick the orange yarn. This causes a dog to appear and chase away the cat. When this happens click the arrow to go to the next screen. Its amusing enough so I don't bother with losing points. However some of my classes really dig the minus points so for them I usually go with -3 or -5.
Note
The versions I've provided in addition to the template generally start with Small Talk and a Quiz of some sort to introduce the language. These can be used with groups or just gone through quickly as a class.
NOTE 'I will give you the world version'
I just updated the quiz for this version. It has 8 questions and the key words come before the quiz. The students can remember them, which has worked fine in my classes or you can post them on the board, which I will do with some classes. At least leave yourself 20 minutes to do the writing activity so you might need to cut it short. Regarding the writing activity I've included two variations. One is just the poster where they pick pictures and write what they will do for the people in the picture, this is the version I prefer, it doesn't use as much target vocabulary but it requires creative use of the language. The other version includes pictures and actual questions. I use this with teachers who really want to practice more target vocabulary.
I might be missing something, but I don't really understand the Cat fun time part? Am I supposed to make my own quiz questions and then they choose the yarn balls for points? Or is it supposed to be based off the worksheet they do? The pictures only worksheet, the students basically choose any of the pictures to write a scenario about? I love your work, thank you for posting it!!
