Pg 21. “I haven’t finished yet”. Columbus 21 year 3
This is a Jeopardy game designed to help the students contextualize what “yet” at the end of a “have you……yet?” or at the end of a response to such question means. Students are still not allowed to break off into sub groups in class. With this activity students can be in groups with students from their seating column without moving or face to face interaction. Give each column a white board (laminated white paper) along with a board marker and eraser (I bought these little small cube white sponges in the dollar store that are quite sufficient at cleaning. It’s completely up to you if you’d like to buy an actual white board eraser.) Students will alternate with the members of their group for each round that way everyone gets a chance to participate. The question structure for each category/ topic) will be the same i.e. “Have you (past participle verb) _____yet?” The answers that the student decipher from the hints will be the variable.
For example: if a student selects the category “eaten” for 100pts the hint for this is a picture of kimchi and the Korean flag so the answer they provide on their board should be “have you eaten Korean food/kimchi yet?
Variation: ALONG WITH WRITING THE FULL QUESTION STUDENTS MUST WRITE THEIR ANSWER TO THE QUESTION. On the same board.
Rules of the game:
1. for all rounds, whichever groups turn it is to select a topic at that time; that
group will not be able to provide an answer to the question until all the other groups have tried and ultimately failed. That group would then get the points by default.
2. Each group only gets one attempt at answering. So if they make a mistake they have lost their chance.
3. Students must say “ping pong” to indicate that they are ready to answer.
Important things to note:
1. With the power point normally the points should fade or get pale once you've clicked on them while in use. I adjusted the font and color which is why you won't see that effect in this PowerPoint. You have the option of adjusting this PowerPoint so that the effect will show or you can write the past participles on the board and just make a note of the points used for each verb. (100pt 200pts...)

After editing this i realized that I hyperlinked the "return" slides to slide one and not two. Just a heads up. You can edit this so that each time you click the return it is set to slide two instead 😉. I'll update the ppt later to reflect this.

This is great. The visuals make it very clear for an introduction. If you don't mind a small suggestion for your Jeopardy template. On the points screen it is useful to add an animation to the point boxes so after you return to the screen from the hyperlink the box either vanishes or changes color. Oh yea thanks for pointing that out. I noticed while I was doing the lesson it's because of the font I used. In the actual lesson I had to just write the verbs on the board and indicate the which ones were already done. I'll make a note of that above so anyone who decides to use it can adjust it since it's a minor adjustment.

It opened okay for me. But at my old job the computer security was higher. I had to save downloaded files onto the school computer before opening them.
Yes if you're using your school's pc there might be restricted access to downloading files. Try downloading it on your phone.
