Vocabulary Review

The activity is primarily used to review vocabulary that students have already learned.

Before tests or at the end of a chapter in a textbook, it's a good idea to review recent vocabulary that the students have learned.

  • Bridge

    Students try to race across the Vocab Bridge to the opponent’s side. This game is also known as "Snake Line" or "Janken Line".

  • Go Fish

    Students walk around playing Janken and asking for target vocabulary cards.

  • May I / Could you: activity worksheet

    2 part worksheet for p28-29 of New Horizon 2.

  • Who am I? Quiz

    A three-hint-quiz type of game where students have to guess the character being described. Perfect activity for We Can! 2 Unit 3 "He is Famous. She is great."

  • T & T

    "T & T" stands for Tsunami and Typhoon, and it is a great review activity for any level students. The rules are easy and the game is as fun as the teachers and students make it.

  • Chalkboard Bingo

    Students write words in their notebooks hoping to score a bingo.

  • Vocabulary Wars

    This is a vocabulary battle that can be used with any small set of vocabulary. It is great for younger classes, but can work with any grade.

  • Categories

    Students aim to think of many words associated with a topic.

  • Exploding Sentences

    Students draw cards from a Mystery Box and practice saying the target word and example sentence.

  • Sports and Their Verbs

    A handy guide to show students why some sports use "play" and others don't. (No more "I play run"!)

  • Days and Subjects Information Gathering

    A mingler activity to practice days of the week and school subjects

  • Totally Awesome Subjects and Days Game

    This uses a 5 x 5 game to practice days and subjects

  • Portrait (Funny Drawing Activity)

    This activity can be used as a practice for "How many ~?" lesson. Students have a good laugh at their final outputs. Activity can be done by pair or small groups.

  • Cross it Out

    A quick activity useful for practicing simple questions and answers. I usually use it for 'What's this?'

  • Drawing Challenge

    A short activity for practicing simple be verb sentences

  • Fun Fruits

    A group based point getting game. It works well as a write and race type activitiy.

  • ALT and JTE Interview

    Students think of 'Do you like' questions to ask the teachers and fill in the worksheet.

  • Pairs Janken Snake

    This game helps students practice vocabulary or English sentences. It is a general game that can be used for ES or JHS lessons.

  • Word Finder

    A simple yet addictive and competitive word finder game.

  • Scrabble Time Bomb

    A timer is started and students race to write words on the chalkboard and not to be the student holding the chalk when the timer sounds.

  • Super Mario Typhoon

    Students review what was studied in the year with a fun, 48 question quiz based on Mario.

  • UFO Attack

    Students must answer questions to move the UFO away from their base.

  • Thirty-six

    Students review recent vocabulary by quizzing each other.

  • Speed Circling

    A karuta styled activity to be played in pairs.

    An activity (set in Tokyo, Japan) for practicing "There is" and "there are"

  • Phonics and Alphabet Worksheets and Presentations

    A very basic interviewing game in which students chase each other and ask basic "Are you~?" questions with "I am" answers while sporting tiny printed cameras.

  • Jumble

    Students practice spelling by mixing up words and quizzing each other.

  • Inside Outside Circles

    Students practice answering and asking questions while moving around in circles to music.

  • Are you From DokoDoko?

    Students ask each other "Are you...?" questions and collect signatures.

  • Get it

    Students listen for their card to be called and rush to collect toys.
