Open the PowerPoint and explain the differences in nuance with the aforementioned verbs. T1 can assist with the explanations in Japanese if the class struggles to understand.
The examples & explanations are followed by a flexible quiz. Criss-cross is an idea.
Optionally, after the quiz, have the students come up with their own uses for each of these verbs. In pairs or groups, allocate a set of these similar verbs (like "listen" and "hear") and have the students come up with their own sentences using each of these verbs. Thereafter, have them share with the rest of the class.
Similar (but different) Verbs
An activity that aims to explore the differences between "look", "see" & "watch"; "hear" & "listen"; "speak" & "talk"; and "say" & "tell". A short revision quiz follows the examples.
