Activity

Sales Pitch

This activity allowed students to be able to create a sales pitch with random objects.

Worksheet and PowerPoint Outline

  1. The term "Sales Pitch" is a new term to students, so I gave a brief explanation of what it is.

  2. I showed a short clip from the movie "Iron Man". In this scene, Tony Stark gave a sales pitch trying to sell Jericho Missile.

  3. Explained the 5 questions that should be answered in the sales pitch (on worksheet and PPT)

  4. Read the sample sales pitch which answered the 5 questions.

  5. Students made groups of about 4 or 5 (depending on class size)

  6. 1 person from each group chose an item from the bag which they will use for their sales pitch.
NB: I had a bag filled with random objects eg. calendar, highlighter, lip cream, empty container, pocket tissue, glue etc...

  7. I gave them about 20 minutes to prepare and 1 minute to present the pitch.

The whole point of this activity is so that they can be creative. I encouraged them to turn the item into anything they want it to be.
I was a bit nervous doing this activity because I know how uninterested high schoolers can be but they really enjoyed it.
