Restaurant Ordering Script - Powerpoint Presentation and Printouts
Restaurant Ordering Role Play Materials (3 restaurant menus, inventory of food for each restaurant)
The 3 Restaurants are based on Philippine restaurants, but using food terminology common in the US and other countries as well.
The script strictly follows the One World textbook, with a few additions.
This is based on a class size of 24 students. (You may change the number of groups or members per group to fit your class size).
Divide the class into 8 groups of 3.
Total of 3 Rounds of Ordering (morning, afternoon, evening at a different restaurant per time slot)
For each round, there will be 1 restaurant with 5 food items and 5 drink/dessert items x 4 pieces only of each item. Each group will pick 1 member to act as the server for the round.
Each server will take the food orders of 2 customers.
After 3 rounds of shopping, every student will have practiced ordering 2x, and serving 1x (with 2 customers).
The textbook script involves asking answering the server's questions and ordering a food item, then a drink/dessert item.
Servers will take note of the orders in a piece of paper, and get the picture of the ordered items, and serve it to the customer on a tray (I used a folder as a tray).
*When presenting the script using the powerpoint and printouts, ask students to write down the katakana of new English words, especially on the server's script.
It's okay for students to read the script of the server, but they must try to memorize the customer script, as this can be applied in real life.
*Also, go over the names of the food items, and you can also explain a bit about what each one is, to help them decide what to order. They may encounter some items for the first time.
Print the materials depending on the number of students you have.
This is wonderful, thank you!
