"Call me..." train/the Name Game

Repurposed version of the Name Game using "Call me..." from New Horizons 2 Unit 1

Repurposed version of the Name Game using "Call me..." from New Horizons 2 Unit 1. Has a twist and slightly competitive edge to it. Best if you explain the grammar beforehand.

  1. Students will introduce themselves using "Call me..." and "I like..." but their liked thing must begin with the first letter of their name. For example, Call me Mike, I like monkeys. Call me Asami, I like apples.
  2. The next student will introduce themselves the same way, and then introduce EVERY student before them using "Call him...", "Call her..." and "He/She likes..." Meaning, the last student will have to introduce everyone.
  3. The goal is to reach the very last student and not break the chain.
  4. If you do this with all of your classes, keep track of which class had the longest chain. The next class, announce the winner.

EDIT: If you have a class that may take a lot of time, I suggest dividing them up into 2 or 3 even numbered teams, then timing them. The group that introduces the most people wins. Then, you can try doing it as a class if you have time.
Also, they will probably ask if they can write notes. I said the first time, try it without. Then the second time, try with. I think taking notes takes a bit more time, though.

Attached is a Powerpoint that might be helpful in explaining the game. Use if you'd like!

Ahhh! I'm so excited to play this! I was searching for something to fit this exact grammar point and you just saved me. I'm definitely using it for my next class.

@AbbyALT Thank you! I was wracking my brain on how to use this without a simple introduction activity. After my first test class, I definitely recommend splitting the class up into teams so more students have the opportunity to use the new grammar ^_^

@AbbyALT, I was hesitant at first, but what a success this turned out to be.
The kids took to it really well and he had a lot of laughs. Thank you so much for this.
