I made this activity as a pre-lesson to a unit about fast-fashion for 1st year SHS students. Admittedly this lesson is a bit simple for them, but maybe it's better suited for younger students, so I hope someone can get some use out of it!
Set-Up:
Download the worksheet file and print. I did page 1 and 2, front and back and 3 as a new sheet. So 2 sheets per student.
Download the fashion cards and print, 1 per student, there's around 48 cards and they're all different. To be honest, some of them are very unlikely that someone would find, but feel free to change them as you please if you want it to be more simple.
I made the slideshow on Canva. Here is the link to that or you can download it as a PowerPoint here!

Lesson Plan:
- Start the lesson with the discussion question in the slideshow.
- Give the students the first worksheet and have them fill in the vocabulary with their partners on page 1. Check as a class.
- Go over the adjectives for clothes included in the slideshow.
- Model the conversation on page 2 with the JTE, explain anything unknown. Have them practice with their partner and use the toolbox for help.
- Give the students the second worksheet. Have them design three pieces of clothing for their shop using the vocab they learned, draw a picture too!
- Pass out the fashion cards, one per student.
- Have each row turn their desks towards each other. Continue with the activity outlined on the second worksheet.
Activity - How to Play:
- With the students desks facing towards each other, designate one row of students to be the shopping clerk. The other row will be the customers.
- Following the dialogue on the first worksheet, the customer student will ask about the clothing item they have on their fashion card that we already gave to the students.
- The shopping clerk student will look through the clothes they designed and see if any match what the customer student is looking for.
- If the customer student finds what they're looking for, they'll "buy it", draw in the item, and write the clerks name on their worksheet. *(I'll preface this by saying it's somewhat unlikely they'll find what they're looking for, but it's fine for our purposes as we just want them to talk ^^")
- After 30 second or so of dialogue, the customer student will move to the next seat, kaiten sushi style, while the shopping clerk stays.
- Continue until they've talked to each clerk. After that, swap the roles. The new shopping clerks will stay while the customers move.
That's pretty much it! If you have any advice to improve this lesson or use it, let me know! I'd love to hear it!
