Activity

Indirect questions.

In this activity, you will find two short stories that use indirect questions. These stories can be utilized for pairing activities or conversation tests.

Please coordinate with your JTE (Japanese Teacher of English) and request their assistance in conducting the role-play activity. In this exercise, your JTE will portray Character A, while you will assume the role of Character B.

Start with Story A. Each participant should take turns exchanging lines as per the script. Once you complete the role-play for Story A, transition smoothly to Story B, but this time, partner up with a student for practice.

After performing both role-plays, it's time to assign pairs for further practice. Allow the students adequate time to read through the entire story individually. Following this, they should practice reading with their assigned partners.

For Story A, students should begin by performing their lines and then switch roles afterward. When moving on to Story B, encourage them to pair up with a different classmate and switch characters again to ensure diverse interaction and engagement. This approach will enhance their understanding and fluency in the material.
