Copyright free Mario Party (Verb board game (ing)

Highly adaptable board game using verbs. (Made for ing but can be adapted to any form.)

You need to start by printing out the boards and the cards. For the star cards you can fold them in half and glue to make the fronts and backs.

Introduce the topic sentence. In my case it was "I like _________ing." Have them practice with a few different verbs.

Then pass out the board, dice and cards.

Everyone starts at the start. The students draw the first star card and read the back to see where it is placed. They place it there and begin the game. After they roll the dice they can choose the direction that they want to go. However they can't do two directions in one move. For example if they get a 3 they can't go forward 2 and back 1. The next turn they can go a different direction but only one way.

When a student lands on a square they say the target sentence using that verb. If they land on the star space, they get the star card and have to say the sentence and gesture the verb. Once the first star is taken they draw and place the next star. This goes until every star has been gotten or if time runs out.

If a student lands on a bomb space, they have to return one star to the draw pile.
