I may just be my opinion but I find the songs from the previous NH Elementary alot more catchier and easier to understand. I understand the premise of adding more vocabulary to the songs but it can make it a bit confusing when you want them to remember the target sentence or phrase.
My teacher agreed especially for the At the restaurant chapter so I created a slideshow based on the song from the previous textbook.
I'm not sure how helpful this will be, and honestly I didn't do much other than finding the song and creating slides to help them visualize it better. All credit belongs to the creators of the song.
Lyricist and Composer: Kathleen Kampa and Charles Vilina
One million percent in agreement about the songs! This new team of writers missed the assignment and turned LET'S SING into LET'S WATCH A MUSICAL NUMBER. Nobody cares about eating at a healthy restaurant; they want a delicious restaurant!
Here's a link to the song: https://youtu.be/DaojfjV-IA0?feature=shared
Audio only, so your slides are a perfect fit.
Nice idea! I’ll definitely use this.
I totally agree. We've even stopped using the songs in our classes. Perhaps we should go back to our digital textbooks just for the songs!
Same for 6th grade. Turning the "How Was Your Summer Vacation" song into "How Was Your Weekend" sucked. Jamming absolute garbage like "international party" in where it didn't fit, and the way they sing some words that they changed completely out of the song like "it was really... INTERESTING" only makes sense if you heard it last year and knew that they were making a point of changing it from fun.
All in all it went from a catchy tune to something none of the kids remembered the words to.
I still have access to the old digital textbook and have found the folders for all the songs and chants. I was thinking about uploading them to this site. Do you think there would be legal issues?
