Take the Train Game

Board game to practice "Change trains at _____" "Get off at ______ station." "Take the _______ line."

Need-
1. The game board for each group
2. Game Tokens
3. Coins for flipping heads or tails
4. Dice

Break your class into small groups. Hand out the game board, tokens, dice, and a coin to each group. Students will take turns rolling the die and moving through the board. They will follow the directions of the space they land on. i.e.- "Get off at the Higashi Station" means, move your token to the Higashi station spot on the board. OR "Change to the Purple Line." means move your token to the beginning of the purple line.
If the student reaches a stop sign they must stop and flip the coin. The coin will decide which train line they will take to proceed. First to the end wins.

I like this. That train lesson can be a bit dry. Its great to have a game for it. For mine I'll change the color lines to shapes such as 'the circle line' so I don't have to use color prints.
