NaganoSarah made this powerpoint for feelings and I changed the pictures and text to be about weather instead. I used it with my 4th grade class for learning new weather vocabulary and practicing the phrase 'It's __.' They really enjoyed it and got the hang of saying 'It's _.' after the game.
How to play
First, review 'How's the weather?' then review the vocab. Windy and stormy might be new words for them because they're not in the textbook, so you might need to take a second to go over them.
Then, split the class into teams. I do two or three groups depending on the size of the class. I had them raise their hands, but taking turns would work too. After choosing someone, ask them 'How's the weather?' and they have to respond with 'It's ______.' Click the picture for whichever weather they said and give them the points underneath. I kept track of the score on the board.
Thank you NaganoSarah for making the original Powerpoint!
This is great! Any idea where original feelings one is? I would love to use that as well! thnx
This is a great game! Thank you. The students loved getting points and competing to win each slide like its a round. The negative points keeps the game spicy for the students who put their hand up the most. A word of caution is that I played with one of my SE classes and some students got upset when they got negative points, an easy way around is to remove the ' - ' marks and make everyone a winner.
This is an absolute life saver for my time crunched planning! Thank you!!!
