Changing Trains! NH2 Let's Talk Activity

My JTE asked me to create this activity for page 81 of the NH 2 textbook. She wanted me to use the train route from our prefecture instead of the one in the text. Feel free to try it out!

This worksheet has three sections and is pretty much self-explanatory when you go through it.

Section 1:
1) Has a large train route map on the first page that should be printed in color. This map is specific to my area so feel free to change it to yours.
2) The students will use this map to complete the dialogue in section 3.

Section 2:
This section just has 4 basic scramble questions that covers the grammar used in the text as well as a few sentences from the toolbox. This is just a little warm up so that the kids can get used to the grammar.

Section 3:
1) This is where the map comes in. As you can see from the map, a star marks where the kids will be 'starting' their travel. Make sure to demonstrate to the kids using the example in the PowerPoint on what words they can add to fill in the blanks first (if you change the route map remember to change the answers for the ppt).
2) The students will choose where they want to go. It's best if they choose somewhere far that can include the scene for changing trains. They will then follow their train route and use the clues form the dialogue to complete the scene.

At the end let students share their answers in groups or pairs to compare. You could even have a few students read out their dialogue so as to reinforce the grammar.

NB: This was printed on A3 size paper. It can also be printed on 2 separate A4 sized paper. I included both A3 and A4 versions.

Hello! I'd love to use your activity but edit the map to fit my area. May I ask where you got your railway map? Thank you so much!

I got my map from this website: https://global.trafficinfo.westjr.co.jp/en/kansai/
although its the West JR Line I believe you can find the one you're looking for.
Make sure to zoom in. I actually had to take a screenshot on my tablet then crop it to size. If you zoom too much though the image quality will be very bad.
