Ideal Lesson Flow:
- Make groups.
- Introduce "Beginning-Rising Action-Climax-Ending" (čµ·ęæč»¢ēµ) to class
- Have students try to re-arrange the mini-story by connecting the dots on the worksheet.
- Tell students to discuss their answers within their group.
- Reveal answers.
- Watch first movie (Kitbull)
- After the film, students will try to reorder the story from 1-8 on their own.
- Students will discuss their answers within their group.
- Reveal the answers one by one and check the meaning. (You can ask students to raise their hand)
- Watch second movie (Bao).
- Students must figure which sentence is true or false by writing T or F.
- Go through the sentences one by one and reveal the answer.
- Lastly, from the 6 scenes in the movie Bao, students are to figure out which scene falls into the four categories.
- [OPTIONAL] In the last 5 minutes of class, students will talk in their groups about what they think the moral of the story is.
NOTE:
- This was specifically made this for āLearning Literatureā to teach Task 2 and 3 in New Horizon 1 (see attachment). I made some changes so that it can be used for other classes. The file name is called ā[JHS][1ST] Learning Literature (pp. 122-3)ā
- The sentences used in the PPT and worksheet uses grammar they learned from Unit 1-11. Feel free to modify the sentences to better suit the age group youāre teaching.
- The rearranging of the story from 1-8 can be quite challenging so I recommend making the students work together and discuss the answers. You can also give them a hint by revealing one of the numbers.
