First, review the grammar points "Can I...." and "Can you..." and vocabulary using the first few slides of the Google Slides. I like to have the students repeat the vocabulary and the correct sentences after me. You can also have students fill in the worksheet at the same time as the review, or at the end of the review, and then go over it.
Next, break the students into groups of 4 students. You must have a set of cards prepared for each group! I laminated and cut out the cards beforehand. Have each group match the correct request to the corresponding picture. Be careful-- there are two sets of cards pertaining to books and two sets of cards pertaining to being cold that students might get mixed up. Go over the correctly matched pictures and sentences using the rest of the PowerPoint.
Using the same sets of cards, you can either play Memory or a game similar to Go Fish.
In Memory, have the students shuffle the cards, and then place them face down in rows and columns. Each student takes turns flipping over two cards. If the cards correctly match a picture card to its corresponding request, then the student can keep that pair. If not, the student flips the cards over, and it is the next student's turn. The student with the most matches wins!
In Go Fish, have each student take 3 picture cards and 3 request cards (for groups of 4 students). On their turn, a student must ask another group member one of their requests. They must specify who they are asking. If that student has the corresponding picture card, they give that student the card while saying "Sure, no problem," (or something similar). If the student does not have the corresponding card, they respond with "Sorry, I'm busy now," (or something similar). Have the students put their matched cards in the middle. If a student has only picture cards left, challenge them to make the request! The person to get rid of all of their cards first wins.
