Activity

Shopping at Zara

This activity allows students to talk about shopping and practice a conversation between a Store Clerk and Customer.

First, students will be able to talk about where they go shopping, what they buy and how often they go shopping.
I started the class by asking the JTE the following questions. (script is in the PowerPoint)

  1. Where do you like to go shopping?
  2. What do you buy?
  3. How often do you go shopping?

After, students will make pairs and ask each other the questions and fill it out on the worksheet.

On the PowerPoint, I introducted new words by showing pictures of each. Students will write the katakana beside each word.

JTE and ALT will read out loud the conversation between the Store Clerk and Customer.
Students will listen and fill in the blank lines in the conversation.
Students will then listen and repeat after ALT.

Students will work with their partner and practice the conversation. They can change the following information using the Shopping Guide attached:
1. Name of the store
2. Type of clothing
3. Color of clothing
4. Size of clothing
5. Amount of money for clothing

If there is enough time, you can ask for a volunteer and their partner to read the script to the rest of the class.
