Explain the rules. I made paper cranes for game pieces, but you could use small, different colored pieces of paper. Students used their own coins to flip for number of spaces to move.
Go over the questions and instructions on the board game spaces. For "change spaces" I told the students if they were in the lead, they did not have to swap places. For "go back 2 spaces" I told them they only had to do this the first time they landed on it so that they aren't going back too many times.
Go over the last page to help students answer questions in full sentences.
Put the students into groups of 4-5.
Let them play as you monitor!
I gave stickers to those who finished first or was closest to the finish space if no one in their group finished before the time ended, but this is optional. :)
