Activity

Class Cival War!

An activity based on the grammar of NH3 pg. 64

Rules are layed out in the powerpoint. And overall this game was a huge success for my classes! My students really enjoyed it and it really helped them learn the grammar of page 64 New Horizons 3. So basically I split the class into teams of 5 to 7 students. Then I would pass out the worksheets and have them write down a team name. Next I would go over the rules on the powerpoint. And after that I would run through all 18 rounds and then would ask the class to tally up their points and we would discover who won this battle! Hope your classes enjoys this activity as well!

*My name is on a few slides of the powerpoint so you will have to edit it out for your name. And also I split the original powerpoint into 3 different files so that way those who don't have a subscriber account can still access them. You will just have to download all three and mash them into one powerpoint though.

This seems fun! I'm going to ask my JTEs if we can try this with our 3nensei. It's probably best to double check the slides though, I've spotted multiple spelling errors in the first few (eg. right instead of write, and One Peice instead of One Piece). Really cool game, thank you for sharing!

Hi Brian. Hope you are doing well. I'm not sure if something is missing or not, but there are no questions for this activity. I guess you just upload the answers.

On the other hand, I think this activity is not in the right category. This is passive voice, right?
O+to be+past participle. "One Piece was created by Eiichiro Oda."

On page 64. The key sentence is "They followed the instructions given in English". This is called Postmodification. The past participle modifies the noun.

However, I must say that this textbook is a mess. At the end of page 64, they request students to introduce the book they like using passive voice. NH has plenty of mistakes, and to be honest, it uses phrases that students will NEVER use in real life. I hope Japan revise the pensum of English for junior and high schools.

@Fernand Thank you for both of your comments and I will say in aspect to "questions," basically the students are filling in the blanks as on my powerpoint that I used I had animations for the words to appear after I click a button. And in terms of the grammar yeah one of my JTE's and me are working on that now so I will have it all updated by the end of today hopefully lol. Also hope your doing well too!

Okay everything should now be updated with no errors and the grammar should be more accurate to the page! Hope this works @Hetart and @Fernand ^_^ !
