Originally for New Horizons ES G5 Over the Horizons Unit 1. But it's honestly so simple it could be for G3 and G4 too.
It's about 10 minutes long, just a brief taster of the topic. Could work for a warm up or post-test break. I review the vocabularly 'What's her/his name', 'Her/his name is...'.
It includes explanations for why the English names were chosen e.g. Is a bell = Isabelle from Animal Crossing.
Characters include;
1. Isabelle from Animal Crossing
2. Mario
3. Princess Peach
4. Misty from Pokemon
5. Snorlax from Pokemon
Basically I just wanted to vaguely introduce the notion of language localisation for game character names :)
On slide 2, on the "Hello my name is" badges I put my name in English and katakana.
I put the PDF so you can preview it without downloading the PPT.
Really cute powerpoint, and a nice idea! I feel like kids are always really surprised and interested when we say in passing a difference in a character's name in English, so I'm sure they'll love to be more properly introduced:)
