Small class size

This activity works best in small classes (under 10 students).

Some activities work better with a smaller group of students due to coordination or the materials required. Many games can be scaled down to a small class with some modification, but these activities are best suited for less than 10 students.

  • Whack-o-Mole! 🕳️🔨 (Pair Speaking Act.)

  • Old Maid (Card Game) without the joker

    Known in Japanese as /jijinuki/. Have students mix their vocabulary cards into one deck, distribute the cards, take out pairs. Draw cards from other player's hands until there is only one card left.

  • Board Game 1nen Plural verbs

    Sugoroku type game, to practice Present Simple. It included "when". 2-4 or 6 students can play. Dice can be digital from tablets one per group. There are many online dice sites.

  • Bomb バクダン Game

    A simple game in which you draw a bomb and points under vocabulary cards posted on the blackboard.

  • Black Box

    A fun activity in which students give hints to a student who is touching an unidentified object that everyone else knows.

    Please feel free to use this to review the use of He/She and to introduce family members in English.

  • Zoo

    Rhythm based game in which students practice gestures and animal vocabulary by passing play back and forth in a circle.
