Practices basic skills about how to continue conversations.

There are a lot of different techniques for training students how to have conversations in English:

Connecting ideas and related topics together.

Using shorter words and phrases like "Well..." or "I see" or "Wow!"

Asking for clarification if you don't understand something, or explaining a word or idea to someone who isn't familiar with it.

    I played this game with my third year class to get them used to speaking. It also helps with learning extra bits of vocab they might not usually use.

  • Do you + 3rd person activity

  • Criss Cross Game

    This is a good warm up and can be used with most grades for basically any lesson to help kids use target phrases.

  • Postcard for 6th grade. Here we go!

    This can be used as an activity at the end of the unit. Its essentially a postcard. (I`ll update more detail later.)

  • Like Rally πŸ‘ (Speaking Act.)

    Perfect activity to practice any dialogue. Students walk around, find a classmate and practice the dialogue. Once they're done, they can receive a "Nice!" sticker from their partner.

  • Mario Kart English Race 🏎️ (Boardgame)

    Great for reviewing a wide range of things (unit(s), Let's Talk, Enjoy Communication, a specific grammar point, etc.) in a Mario-Kart board game style.

  • Avatar the Last Airbender Class(es)

    This activity is good for an elective class (or any class with a motivation to learn English in my opinion). If you're an ATLA fan, it is also a fun class to teach!

  • Have You Been...?

    Bingo and writing to practice "Have you been...?"

  • Ordering at a restaurant

    This is an activity to practice ordering at a Philippine restaurant.

  • Minecraft Diamond QuestπŸ’Žβ›(Sentence Practice Game)

    A quick game that can be played as a warm up or end-of-class activity where the students play in teams in hopes of finding diamond by making sentences.

  • The Kindness Activity

    Students will write kind messages to each other on a paper keepsake! I did it at the end of the school year before the break. The JTE loved it so much, she used the lesson for other classes..

  • 1 Minute Challenge!

    Challenge passing students to talk in English for 1 minute to get a sticker!

  • One Piece Wanted Game

    This is a fun finding game providing good speaking practice using who, what, when, where and how questions. The activity involves a PowerPoint and printable cards and is very easy to adapt.

  • Practicing conversation points in New Crown 3

    Practices 3 conversation points: confirm, change the subject and words that express feelings and emotions

  • Guess what! Activity

    Students write surprising "Guess what!" sentence. They then say these sentences in pairs and practice reactions. The sillier the sentences, the better.
